A Diagnostic Assessment For Dyslexia

I am a BDA (British Dyslexia Association) Approved Assessor who can organise and carry out a Diagnostic assessment for Dyslexia for your child.
A Diagnostic Assessment for Dyslexia is the only way that dyslexia can be formally identified.
I assess from age 7 years onwards to comply with the SASC guidelines (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee), this is the governing body for our specialist teacher assessors, and I offer face-to-face assessments.

Why have a Diagnostic assessment for Dyslexia?

If your child is experiencing significant difficulties in their study or in day-to-day life, and you would like to either find out more or need further support, then a Diagnostic Assessment for Dyslexia can be very helpful.

Other common reasons for a Diagnostic Assessment for Dyslexia are:

To increase your child’s confidence and self-esteem by providing a profile of their cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and by understanding their difficulty better
To use as evidence for Exam Access Arrangements whilst studying at college, university or for professional qualifications
To apply for funded support at university known as Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)
To provide more information for employers so that they can make Reasonable Adjustments for an employee with specific difficulties

Contact me today to discuss your child’s needs and how I can help them achieve their full potential.

Terms and Conditions for Diagnostic Assessment

To carry out the assessment, the client’s personal information needs to be collected and will remain confidential.

Information provided in pre-assessment questionnaires will be included in the final report.

Please have in mind that the child must have had a sight test within the last six months and it is helpful if the child has had a recent hearing check.

Please be informed that, after collecting all the information and results, the assessor might not have enough evidence to state that the assessed person is dyslexic.

Please be aware that If your child is in Year 9 or above and you require the assessment to be used as part of an application for Exam Access Arrangements, usually GCSEs or A Levels, e.g. extra time in exams or a scribe, etc. then it will be necessary for you to contact your child’s school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) prior to the assessment, as this is a JCQ requirement.

Payment

I offer face-to-face assessments, with fees starting from £500 and ranging up to £700 depending on location.
